Real Madrid coach Zidane: €400M for Neymar?

Since the acquisition of Gareth Bale in 2013 the LaLiga club have not signed a player of "Galáctico" proportions and the club have identified Neymar as the key player to lead the front line in a post-Cristiano Ronaldo era at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mundo Deportivo's Fernando Polo and Roger Torello (h/t Max Winters of MailOnline) reported Neymar has spoken to former club Barca and wants to leave France due to the poor standard of football in Ligue 1.

Neymar will have undoubtedly been devastated that he wasn't able to help Paris Saint-Germain attempt a comeback against Real Madrid in the Champions League during mid-week.

It's no secret that Brazil international left Barcelona to step out of the shadow of Lionel Messi and increase his prospects of winning the Ballon d'Or.

The two stars were involved in a scuffle over penalty duties at the start of the season and that bitterness still remains with the Uruguayan becoming disenchanted with life at the club with the Brazilian around.

Asked about the speculation on Friday, Real coach Zinedine Zidane said: "Neymar could play in all the clubs because he is very good, like many players".

After fracturing his metatarsal against Marseille in a Ligue 1 clash, a week prior to Real Madrid defeat, Neymar is currently recovering from the injury and is eyeing to be deemed fit before the World Cup.

The Madrid-based newspaper AS reports that Neymar's father has met with Real Madrid, who are reporttedly ready to pay 400 million euros to sign the striker.

"I believe it comes from the same source-his entourage".

President Florentino Perez has backed Zidane and it's understood the squad have also offered their support to the man at the helm.

Zidane added: "He is not lacking anything".

"I'm not going to talk about a player that is not mine. On the 400 million, they paid 220 million and when they bought me they paid 72".

"It seemed crazy to me and 10 years later they are paying 220 million".

"In Neymar's plans, his return to Barça would not be for next summer but for the year 2019".
